Follows the conclusion of the 1988 Summer Olympics from Seoul, S. Korea. This is a 3 hour showcase outlining the final medal counts with video of some greatest moments.

The 1988 Summer Olympics, officially known as the Games of the XXIV Olympiad, were an all international multi-sport events celebrated in 1988 in Seoul, South Korea. They were the second summer Olympic Games to be held in Asia and the first since the 1964 Summer Olympics held in Tokyo, Japan. They were also the fourth Olympic Games to be held in Autumn.

In the Seoul Games, 160 nations were represented by a total of 8391 athletes: 6197 men and 2194 women. 237 events were held. 27221 volunteers helped to prepare the Olympics. 11331 media (4978 written press and 6353 broadcasters) showed the Games all over the world.

These were the last Olympic Games for two of the world's "dominating" sport powers, the Soviet Union and East Germany, as both ceased to exist before the next Olympic Games.

North Korea, still officially at war with South Korea, and its allies, Albania, Cuba, Madagascar and Seychelles boycotted the games. For differing reasons, Ethiopia and Nicaragua did not participate in the games. However, the much larger boycotts seen in the previous three Summer Olympics were avoided, resulting in the largest ever number of participating nations to that date.

I like watching all levels of competitive ice skating but this is different. Using helicopter cameras, Brian and crew show ice skating in the outdoors. Skating over a LARGE expanse of open ice is awesome to watch.

Originally shown during the Christmas season, there are lots of young folks and a romantic interlude with the equally great Katarina Witt. Wonderful family viewing.

From Los Angeles, this is the original broadcast of 28 July 1984; Co-hosted by the late Peter Jennings and the immortal Jim McKay. As can be expected, this was a big deal. With the President and First Lady in attendance, there are faces galore throughout the Memorial Coliseum. Huge amounts of man-powered excitement covering the field, singers and dancers and kids and everything in strange 80s costuming. It looks to be a 90+ degree day and everyone is working overtime. This is 3 hours of goodness from over 30 summers ago.

Three hour Black Tie Celebration of the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics from the world famous Greek Theatre. Fantastic star power including many "Via Satellite" appearances. Following the Beach Boys performance the camera scans the crowd and you see OJ and Nicole enjoying the proceedings. OJ notices the camera and gives the "thumbs up" to let us know it's all good.

Based on the true story of Tonya Harding and Nancy Kerrigan, rivals for the USA Olympic Ice Skating team. Good movie with a fun cast, following very closely to the real story makes for enlightening viewing. Story is told through the eyes of a fictional sportswriter.
