13th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards, The (1986) (TV)

This is from the days when the show was only a taped half hour daytime broadcast that pre-empted the normal "Santa Barbara" time slot. So, you have a young Jackée playing an (uncredited) switchboard operator taking calls from "Santa Barbara" fans caught unawares. Sounds like this; "Santa Barbara isn't on"! "I know Santa Barbara isn't on". "It's your favorite show"? "It's my favorite show too"! It's actually funnier than it sounds and who doesn't LOVE Jackée? At the end of the show, same thing but funnier. Coming back from the commercial break you see an "exploded" switchboard (with smoke and obvious destruction) and Ms. J. with her hair faux-fried and black powder on her face. The implication is the heavy volume of calls re: SB blew up the whole thing! Honestly, it's pretty funny, maybe funnier than I can describe fully. Brisk 30 minute weekday afternoon show with all the glitz and glamour of the most elaborate evening Black Tie event. Great television even for non-soapers.

Funeral of Karol Józef Wojtyła (Pope John Paul II), The (1997) (TV)

The Venerable Pope John Paul II (Latin: Ioannes Paulus II PP. I, Italian: Giovanni Paolo II)18 May 1920 – 2 April 2005.

Born Karol Józef Wojtyła, he reigned as Supreme Pontiff of the Roman Catholic Church and Sovereign of Vatican City from 16 October 1978 until his death on 2 April 2005. His was the second-longest documented pontificate; only Pope Pius IX served longer (St. Peter the Apostle is reputed to have served for more than thirty years as the first pontiff, but documentation is sparse and not definitively supported). He has been the only Slavic and Polish Pope to date, and was the first non-Italian Pope since Dutch Pope Adrian VI in 1522.

Funeral of Princess Diana, The (1997) (TV)

Diana, Princess of Wales (Diana Frances; née Spencer; 1 July 1961 – 31 August 1997)

A member of the British royal family and international personality of the late 20th century as the first wife of Charles, Prince of Wales, whom she married on 29 July 1981. The wedding, which was held at St. Paul's Cathedral, was televised and watched by a global audience of over 750 million people. The marriage produced two sons, Princes William and Harry, currently second and third in line to the thrones of the 16 Commonwealth realms.

A public figure from the announcement of her engagement to Prince Charles, Diana was born into an old, aristocratic English family with royal connections, and remained the focus of worldwide media scrutiny before, during and after her marriage, which ended in divorce on 28 August 1996. This continued in the years following her death in a car crash in Paris along with her companion Dodi Fayed and driver Henri Paul on 31 August 1997, and in the subsequent display of public mourning a week later. Contemporary responses to Diana's life and legacy are mixed but popular interest in the Princess endures.

In God's Name (2007) (TV)

A practical comparison of worldwide religious beliefs. Better than expected for a CBS production, in my opinion it's because the broadcast is sans host. The segments are told through the eyes of the individual religious leaders in a documentary style.
